Private/Family Business Specialists
Remuneration decisions between family members and inter-generation can cause unnecessary stress.
Our team assesses each family members' role and contribution to the business and provides a report with market recommendations hopefully restoring harmony through accurate and informed remuneration decisions.
Arms Length Remuneration
The arm's length principle uses the behavior of independent, unrelated parties as a benchmark to determine fair and reasonable terms in dealings between related parties.
Our directors apply this principle with care and precision in our reports, ensuring every evaluation is thorough, impartial, and considerate of all parties involved.

Our Methodology
We have developed a methodology that ensures accuracy. There are three sources of data that provide cross referencing and validation.
The first stage in our methodology is understanding the role in question, its competency requirements, skills and dimensions. This ensures no-one is misled through ambiguous titles.
We are then able to access the largest database of its kind in Australia with details of over 5,000,000 individuals and the roles held. By accurately matching competencies, location and other salient factors we source real, niche specific data.
In addition to this first database, we have our own internal database of over 200,000 individuals that provides an element of cross check. Further data sources are available but rarely provide more or different data.
The third and most powerful source is discreetly speaking with highly relevant and targeted organisations or individuals that validate our assessment. Publicly available information may also assist.
Our Commitment to Accurate Remuneration
Many would argue that remuneration alone is not a driving factor for the majority of executives and we would subscribe to this theory. However, it becomes a factor when people are called upon to exceed the remit of their role or other opportunities are presented that may provide greater financial incentive within equivalent organisations. Parity with market benchmarks is also a key factor when looking to retain or attract high quality resources at every level within a organisation.
With this in mind, it is important for organisations to ensure that individual roles, and more broadly their people, are being adequately, fairly and competitively remunerated. That is where we come in.
Remuneration & Impact on Business Valuations
Many privately owned businesses have some employees or Owners working in the business. Frequently their level of Remuneration is not a reflection of their contribution or role.
At a time when a valuation is required it is common practice for the profitability of the business to be adjusted to reflect the appropriate Remuneration of all staff. This may result in the valuation increasing or decreasing. Naturally a Vendor typically has an interest in increasing the value whilst a Buyer in reducing it. Either way, our assessment will assist the Owner, Buyer, their Accountant or Valuation specialist more accurately determine value.
